Files can be transmitted to MVP via e-mail, FTP Site or Disc.
After receiving your PDF file we will process your PDF through our RIP then generate an
un-trapped Low Resolution, Pre-separated PDF file for your review. This file will be attached to an invoice that must be paid for using PayPal. Paying an invoice indicates to MVP that you have reviewed and accept the Low Resolution PDF for Size, Content and Color Break.
Once PayPal confirms that your invoice has been paid, MVP will output your films within 1 Business day and send them to you using the shipping method and address you have provided to us with your order.
MVP cannot make any corrections/alterations to your files. Your Un-Trapped, Pre-separated, Low Resolution PDF will have a single page for each film that will be output. If you see an issue with your Lo Resolution PDF proof, you will need to make corrections to your file, then resubmit a corrected file.
Knocking out or Overprinting elements that are colored using 100% Black.
- In order to overprint some elements that are printing black, while Knocking out others, change the ink color to something other than "Black". Use the overprint function in your layout program to overprint those elements that should overprint and leave the other elements unchanged. Unchanged elements will Knock out in most cases.
- If you follow these tips to cause black art to knock out but enable postscript overprint on that element it will still overprint
If you need films that are output other than Negative, Right Reading Emulsion Down
- Create a file that is a Negative if you need Film Positives
- Create a file that is mirrored if you need films that are Right Reading Emulsion Up
- Create a file that is a Mirrored Negative if you need films that are Right Reading Emulsion Up Positives
Common Problems are:
- Elements that are meant to print in spot color are actually set to print in four color process
- Key lines are put on the edges of a document to indicate trim. These lines can cover art that bleeds
- Die lines are set to knock out art rather than overprinting it
- Solid black art or text is set to print four color process
- Bleed is not included in the original document
- Document bleed is not included in the PDF
To Minimise Problems
- Create the original layout using a true design software like Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress.
- Open and check your PDF with Overprint Preview enabled (preferably on a different computer)
- If it is available in your version of Acrobat, use the "Output Preview" function to view your colors individually before submitting your PDF.
- If you cannot eliminate extra (default) colors that are in your document, export your layout file to a pre-separated postscript file printing only the colors required, then distill it using Acrobat Distiller. Delete the pages that contain colors that you do not want to print
